How we hire
What to expect
Introduce yourself
Apply to an open role or send a general introduction with a resume or portfolio. We read every submission.
Conversation
A short call to learn about your background, interests, and how you like to work — and to answer your questions about NextEra.
Technical deep-dive
A practical discussion of systems you've built (and sometimes a small take-home). Collaborative, not a whiteboard trap.
Decision & match
We decide quickly and keep you informed. If there's a fit, we align on role, engagement shape, and start date.
What we look for
Stack
What you'll work with
What we actually use
Modern web stacks (TypeScript/React/Next, Python/Django), cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and pragmatic ML/AI where it earns its keep. We match the client's stack more often than we impose ours.
What we won't pretend
We're not a body shop that "does every language." If a niche stack isn't a fit, we'll say so early — better than a bad match mid-engagement.
How we learn
You'll pick up client systems fast. We expect you to write things down, ask sharp questions, and leave the codebase better than you found it.
A typical day
Day in the life
Morning
Async standup in writing. Prioritize client tickets, unblock reviews, and protect a deep-work block for the riskiest change of the day.
Midday
Pair or review with another senior. Security and failure modes stay in the same PR as the feature — not a separate queue.
Close
Ship or leave a clear handoff note. Update the client in plain English. No status theater — just what's done and what's next.
How we work
Remote-first
Work from anywhere. We coordinate across timezones and communicate clearly and asynchronously.
Small, senior teams
No layers of hand-offs. You work directly on client problems with other experienced engineers.
Senior ownership
You're accountable for outcomes in production — estimates, trade-offs, and the blast radius of what you ship.
Life at NextEra
What it's like
Engineering culture
Ownership without the theater
You're trusted with real client systems from week one — not ticket farms. When something breaks in production, you're in the room that fixes it.
How we build
Security as a craft, not a checkbox
We talk about authz, secrets, and blast radius the same way we talk about features. Quality and security are part of how we ship, not a phase at the end.
How we collaborate
Clear writing, fewer meetings
Remote-first only works if people write well. Expect async updates, crisp proposals, and direct feedback — and the space to do deep work.
